A symbol for a nature-positive future: the new Global Nature Positive Summit logo

For the Global Summit in Japan this July, a new logo has been designed, drawing on regional influence and global cohesion.

The the Global Nature Positive Summit marks an important step towards greater action to halt and reverse nature loss. The Summit flags the renewed interest, impact and commitment of many in achieving our global goal for nature and will help turn ambition into concrete action.

Flying the flag for the Global Nature Positive Summit is a vibrant new logo. It represents the belief that a nature-positive future can only be achieved through collaboration across sectors, scales and geographies, and through long-term commitment that reconnects human activities with the natural systems on which they depend.

Local roots and place based design

The logo, designed by SHINME Inc. who worked closely with the organizers of the Summit, brings inspiration from the Kumamoto region, where the Summit is hosted, and the vision of nature positive.

SHINME Inc. are a Japan-based design studio known for blending contemporary aesthetics with a deep respect for local context, culture and craftsmanship. Their approach brings a sense of authenticity and intentionality to the design – ensuring that the logo is not only visually compelling, but also rooted in the values it represents.

A visual language of coexistence

We are indivisible from nature – one of the things the design seeks to portray. Through thoughtful shapes, patterns and symbols, alongside swipes of natural colours, it shows the beauty and the balance we need for a nature-positive future that sustains us all.

The central mark is based on the iconic landscape of the Kusasenri in Aso, a vast emerald green grassland plateau with a picturesque peak at its centre. Mountains, villages, rivers, and ocean are represented, depicting the diverse environments of Kumamoto: rivers nurtured by the “Land of Water,” farmlands representing human livelihoods and the economy, and the sea, home to one of Japan’s largest tidal flats and rich biodiversity.

Each ecosystem plays an important role in the overall health of the environment. The interconnectedness of our world is also a central theme at the Summit, which seeks to emphasize the importance of collaboration in delivering our goals.

Detail on the patterns and colours

The design incorporates traditional Japanese patterns, each carrying a specific meaning aligned with the Summit’s vision:

鱗文様_BScales Pattern – a symbol of regeneration and natural cycles, expressing the restoration of lost nature and the renewal of life

青海波_B

Rhombus Pattern – representing vitality, growth and sustainability

菱形文様_B

Shippo (Cloisonné) Pattern – symbolizing harmony, prosperity and enduring connections

七宝_B

Seigaiha (Blue Ocean Waves) – expressing continuity, tranquility and a sustainable future across generations

The colour palette draws on traditional Japanese colors such as persimmon tannin brown, moss green and deep indigo. The colours were chosen to evoke the beauty of nature shaped over time and the quiet strength of enduring ecosystems.

Together, the  logo expresses the Summit’s commitment to building a Nature Positive future in which nature, society and the economy thrive in balance.

Taking the logo to great heights

The Global Nature Positive Summit was established as a platform to translate the global Nature Positive ambition into concrete, actionable outcomes. It aims to catalyze progress by convening leaders from business, finance, government, science and civil society. Through two fully packed days of talks, discussions and networking, the Summit brings like-minded people together to share progress and challenges and together find a way to address our global nature and climate crises.

The Nature Positive Initiative is excited to be partnering with a host of committed and driven organizations who all back the shared global mission to halt and reverse nature loss. This collaboration and shared commitment is essential for coordinated global action and a thriving planet. The Summit brand design and logo are a central symbol for this movement.
