Can natural capital be valued consistently across 23 million hectares and 38 countries? Forestry leaders and standards-setters share what it takes to get there.
Consistent measurement is the foundation nature markets are built on – when it comes to the global forest sector, the diversity of geographies and ecosystems can make that consistency hard to achieve. This session unpacks an 18-month effort by 18 forestry organisations stewarding 23 million hectares across 38 countries to align on how natural capital is measured, reported, and valued.
Panellists will explore measuring ecosystem services consistently across biomes, reconciling the differing accounting frameworks, and translating ecological outcomes into value that resonates with society and decision-makers – sharing the hurdles that were overcome, opportunities realised, and what this means for natural capital valuation beyond forestry.
