Nature Positive depends on partnership. The International Environmental Guardianship (IEG) convenes a dialogue on how community consent and co-ownership creates the trust to bring this global goal to life.
The global goal of Nature Positive can only be achieved through respectful, trusted partnerships with communities who live within the ‘territories of life’. In this dialogue, Regional Chairs from the International Environmental Guardianship (IEG) — a member-based organization for Indigenous Peoples, Local Communities and Afro-Descendant peoples — will articulate what makes partnerships trustworthy: reciprocity, transparency, project co-ownership, equitable benefit-sharing, data sovereignty, and free, prior and informed consent. Participants are invited to explore nature-positive pathways that uplift the communities who protect and repair nature; and to learn about the 8 Billion Hour Pledge as a complementary campaign to verify and fund hours of nature stewardship.
