From monitoring progress to prioritising action: using data, modelling and country-led expertise to support implementation of the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
Measurement can help us understand the state of nature and our impacts and dependencies – but how do we turn that understanding into decisions about what to prioritise, who needs to act, and where action could make the greatest difference for global nature recovery?
This interactive session will explore this challenge, which connects closely with the work of the Nature Positive Initiative and is also central to NATURE Impacts. We will introduce how NATURE Impacts is bringing together data, modelling and national and local expertise to move from understanding impacts towards identifying priorities for action.
An interactive demonstration will explore the question of fair national contributions towards the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework targets, showing how different choices about fairness and responsibility can shape how action is prioritised. This will be followed by a discussion bringing together different perspectives on what is needed to move from measurement to effective action to halt and reverse biodiversity loss.
