Nature as Economic Infrastructure: Rethinking Finance, Risk and Resilience
This session will explore how governments, financial institutions, and development partners can better integrate nature into the economic and financial systems that shape investment, development, and public finance decisions. Drawing on insights from three major new reports, the discussion will examine practical pathways for embedding nature into sovereign debt frameworks, fiscal policy, infrastructure planning, and broader financial decision-making. By connecting lessons from biodiversity implementation, nature finance, and economic resilience, the session will explore how countries can move beyond closing the biodiversity finance gap to reforming the underlying financial and economic frameworks that shape outcomes for nature and people.
