Achieving global biodiversity goals requires more than ambition. It requires credible, scalable and decision-useful evidence of how nature is changing. Genetic tools, including DNA-based monitoring and molecular biodiversity assessment, are expanding our ability to detect species, understand ecological change and generate robust data across terrestrial, freshwater and marine environments. This interactive fishbowl session will explore how genetic information can strengthen biodiversity metrics, complement conventional monitoring approaches and support progress towards global biodiversity targets.
