How countries are turning global restoration targets into policies, finance, monitoring systems and action on the ground, with lessons from different national and landscape contexts.
Target 2 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework calls for at least 30% of degraded ecosystems to be under effective restoration by 2030. Turning this global ambition into hectares on the ground depends on national strategies, finance, private-sector engagement and robust tracking. This session brings together experiences from Brazil, home to one of the world’s largest restoration commitments, and international perspectives on progress against global forest and restoration goals. Speakers will discuss what is working, where implementation is stalling, and how countries can align restoration with their NBSAPs, climate commitments and local development.
