Enhancing Collaborative Management Partnerships for Nature and People
This side event will examine how Collaborative Management Partnerships (CMPs) can strengthen effective, equitable and sustainable governance of protected and conserved areas in Africa while supporting implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF). Africa Protected Area Directors (APADs) will share experiences, evidence, lessons and challenges from CMP implementation, including governance, legal, institutional, financing, accountability and benefit-sharing considerations. The discussion will explore how CMPs can be strengthened and scaled to deliver positive outcomes for nature and people. The event will generate practical recommendations for scaling effective collaborative governance models and contributing to a nature-positive trajectory by 2030.
