Building Systemic Transformation Through Positive Tipping Points
The side event aims to catalyse systemic transformation through positive tipping points, building on the evidence and narrative of the forthcoming Living Planet Report. The event will explore how coordinated action across the energy, food and finance systems – the primary drivers of biodiversity loss – can trigger self-reinforcing transitions that rapidly scale nature-positive outcomes, moving beyond incremental change toward transformative impact. Drawing on case studies, policy insights and the report’s “science of hope” framing, discussions will highlight how clear goals, credible pathways and collective agency can unlock tipping dynamics that halt and reverse biodiversity loss at pace and scale. The session will convene policymakers, multilateral partners and thought leaders to identify practical levers for enabling such tipping points, including governance, finance and cross-sector collaboration, and to strengthen a shared narrative for accelerated implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework towards 2030 and beyond.
