Restoration only counts if it can be measured. As countries report on Target 2 of the Global Biodiversity Framework, credible monitoring systems are becoming essential for transparency, finance and accountability. Brazil is building a national restoration monitoring system that combines government data, civil society platforms such as the Restoration Observatory, and geospatial intelligence. This session presents how this system is being designed, the partnerships behind it, its alignment with international frameworks such as FAO's Framework for Ecosystem Restoration Monitoring (FERM), and lessons for other countries seeking to track restoration progress.
