Agroecology in motion: From vision to action

Location: Main Room

Organizers: Agroecology Coalition

Agroecology is a biodiversity-friendly approach identified under KMGBF Target 10. It also drives food systems transformation by strengthening local autonomy, reducing external inputs, and building resilience from the ground up.

This session covers the foundations of agroecology as an approach that mimics natural processes while building on local community knowledge, adhering to environmental and social benchmarks, and that is anchored on set of principles and elements.

It tackles the growing political and policy momentum on agroecology from lcaol to global, supported both by governments and non-state actors. It will likewise feature on-the-ground action illustrated by examples at the farm level and short value chains, involving farmers, youth, as well as local communities and government agencies.

Finally, it features some tools and mechanisms that can be used in capturing agroecological transitions.
