Becoming Nature Positive is a new first-of-its-kind 30-minute film created by the Nature Positive Initiative and co-produced with Open Planet Studios, featuring top voices from across the global sustainability community.
How would you define nature positive, in three words? What does nature positive mean? Why does it matter, and why now? And why should we all care? What do scientists, business leaders, civil society executives and public sector actors have to say about it?
Becoming Nature Positive delves into these questions and more, inspired by the book, Becoming Nature Positive: Transitioning to a Safe and Just Future (Routledge Earthscan, June 2025, M. Lambertini et al).
The vision behind the film is to highlight the nature crisis, less visible than the climate crisis but equally dangerous and interconnected. While laying bare the importance to urgently halt and reverse nature loss and exploring solutions, the film sets out key elements of the transition to a nature-positive economy and society.
The film aims at opening minds, building a sense of nature emergency, stimulating conversations, shifting perceptions and inspiring action towards a nature positive future across key change-makers – from top business and government leaders and decision-makers to the whole of society – in the belief that we urgently need all shoulders to the wheel to achieve progress at the pace and scale required to transition to a safe and just future. The trailer is out now, and the film is coming soon – due for release in the first quarter of 2026.
