Date: Thursday 12 June, 2025

Location: Novotel, Esplanade Du, Parv. de l’Europe 8-10, 06300 Nice, France

Common metrics to measure pressures, interventions and the state of the marine environment – and the availability of underlying data – is a critical component to advancing the agenda to better achieve ‘nature positive outcomes’ for the ocean.

Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance, the Nature Positive Initiative and the World Economic Forum are convening active and influential players in the ocean agenda event to explore an ‘Ocean Positive Future’ and why a universal set of Marine Metrics is so important to drive action and measure progress towards it.

The event will be an interactive session bringing various actors together to identify the need for a consensus on common metrics, and the various use cases for them. Collaborators will include research & academia, civil society, science-based standards and frameworks organisations, businesses in key marine-related sectors, multilateral agencies and government representatives.

The outcome of the event will inform a joint roadmap for building consensus on common Marine Metrics, and the identification of key actors that should be part of the process.
